The Freakin' Weekend.

So much for getting anything done this weekend.
I suppose I can pull some all nighters this week and make everything work.
I needed a weekend of nothingness. So fuck off constant nagging brain and to-do list.

The parents are in Vegas for their 30th wedding anniversary.
I'm house sitting and hanging out with Bear, our dog.
There's a whole different energy to this house and where I live.
Here, I am enamored with the internet and TV.
At home, I don't have these things. So most of my time is spent reading,
listening to talk radio, playing with the kitties, finding a way to get out of the house,
and organizing my studio area... and making lists of things that need to be done.
Oh, and sleeping.
I haven't made an effort at all this weekend to do anything.
Such is the nature of different energies. Or comforts.
I like being bored at home. Makes me restless and more likely to make art or make friends.

These are my awesome nephews! Up top is my buddy Aythen and below is the Archer cracking up!
They're awesome. Going to my sister's tomorrow to see 'em. :]
And eat rice and beans. Ha.

The attitude that nature is chaotic and that the artist puts order into it is a very absurd point of view, I think. All that we can hope for is to put some order into ourselves.

“It is a truth universally acknowledged that when one part of your life starts going okay, another falls spectacularly to pieces.”

Asshole Clientele

The other night I forgot to give someone silver wear to eat their salad with... he was totally cool with it the whole time he was there.. honest mistake... or so i thought.
He wrote on top of his credit card receipt: FYI- attention to details! Best of luck.
That, and a 10% tip...
See, I'm not allowed to mess up without people throwing it in my face constantly.
Love being a bitch to the masses.

Yay, shock!

I'm determined to include my cats into/ around/ under/ as a side note to my art. Ha.
Sort of how in the past dogs were used for fidelity. Cats represent independence and wit. I almost don't understand now how I used to despise cats. I absolutely love my little babies. They are brilliant.
Baz and Bagheera Nala are their names.

Things to do in a very short amount of time:
Build a canvas.
Gather materials for a still life in which the combination should be surprising. (Yay, shock, I don't really believe in you anymore.)
Do some color studies of said objects/ still life.
Develop negatives of me in my bathroom making faces for 48 exposures.
Go to photo store and acquire more materials for said photographs.
Grain my two stones for printmaking.
Work on imagery.
But first and foremost: Read Nothing like the Son: On Robert Mapplethorpe's X Portfolio.
And Prom Night in Flatland: On the Gender of Works of Art.
Gather images for those, write summary/thoughts on/ conclusions....

Also, what do i not think is art? I must find an example of such...
I looked through multiple magazines and B&N and the magazines... I guess I haven't noticed contemporary art thus far.
I'm an art history kinda gal... but also as open minded as I am, I was surprised how much I thought was NOT art. Shame on me I guess... or shame on them? Who knows... no shame... just forgettable art.

Where I'm at.

Almost everything you do will seem insignificant, but it is important that you do it.

i.e. Art.
